“Roadmap To Fully Fund Communities” at NB Library October 30th

Connecticut Voices for Children,(CTVoices), a research-based advocacy organization, will host a community conversation on state fiscal policies and strategies for investing in children and families on Thursday, October 30th at the New Britain Public Library.

The “community-led conversation on fiscal controls” will be held at the New Britain Public Library, 20 High Street, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and is open to the public. Registration for the forum is available at bit.ly/ctvoices-roadshow to help organizers plan for attendance. Food, child care and Spanish interpretation will be available.

New Britain is the seventh city where Voices for Children has shared its research and policy reforms this year as part of the “Roadmap Roadshow.”

“The State’s fiscal controls have been hampering our ability to invest in policies that children and families need, like a state-level Child Tax Credit, more affordable housing and healthcare options, affordable access to high-quality childcare, and more,” according to CT Voices. “With major federal cuts looming as well as excessive tariffs that increase unaffordability for families and executive orders that transfer costs to states, Connecticut lawmakers now face a choice: let the harm trickle down, or fight back. That means raising taxes on our wealthiest residents and reforming outdated fiscal controls so we can protect children, families, and the services they rely on.”

CT Voices presenters will share new research on the State’s fiscal controls also known as “fiscal guardrails” that will focus on “how Connecticut can raise revenue to invest in all of our children and families.”

The New Britain CT Voices program is sponsored locally by Friendship Service Center, OIC of New Britain, the YWCA and Klingberg Family Centers.
