
The swearing-in ceremony occurred in the House Chamber on Tuesday, January 13th. The 2026 Legislative Session is set to begin on February 4th, 2026.
Rep. Sanchez, a multi-term member of the New Britain Common Council from Ward 3, resigned her Council seat this week after winning a January 6th special election. She succeeds Mayor Robert (Bobby) Sanchez who was elected Mayor last November.
“I am deeply grateful to the voters of New Britain who supported my candidacy and for the opportunity to serve in the House of Representatives,” State Rep. Iris Sánchez said. “It is my role to be the voice of New Britain residents in the House, and I will connect with residents, listen to their concerns and ideas, and fight for the needs of New Britain families.”
State Representative Iris Sánchez will serve on the Finance, Commerce, and Veterans’ Affairs Committees during the 2026 Legislative Session.
“I look forward to the start of the 2026 Legislative Session in February and getting to work on the issues that are impacting residents the most,” said State Rep. Iris Sánchez.
State Representative Iris Sánchez has been a resident of New Britain for over 30 years. Sanchez served as Assistant Majority on the Common Council.
